What is Sin?
This particular page will be fairly brief simply because the
subject of "sin" is quite easily explained. However, in
order to see sin as it truly is, you need to, again, clear your
mind of the preconceived ideas about sin, and memories you have about what
the world has described as sin.
You won't be able to understand sin fully unless you
have taken the time to study the other pages associated with thegodkind.org. These other pages explain the whole plan of God and this
page will simply fit into the puzzle like all the other
pieces.
Let's begin to learn what sin is.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory
of God,
1 John 3:4 Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and
sin is lawlessness.
1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has
sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was
manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will
be justified in His sight, for by the law [is] the knowledge of
sin.
POINT: Sin is not a system of DO'S AND DON'TS.
IT IS A WAY OF THINKING AND BEING. It isn't simply, "you
shall not. . ." As has been mentioned in previous pages,
God's mind is reflected by His spirit. His written word, the
Bible, is a reflection of how God thinks. The scriptures contain
the very mind of God, and He has laid out the "lessons"
for mankind in the pages of the Bible. In order for God to
accomplish His greatest creation, that of character development
in beings with free choice, He HAS to have a system of developing
such character. That system is encompassed in what the world has
viewed as an oppressive way to live. Of COURSE, it couldn't
seem like anything else BUT oppressive to a free-willed,
conscious being who has lost the purpose for his or her own
existence. The natural mind of
mankind, remember, hates God's ways. The shaping of
character in such a mind is not an easy task to endure, because
it requires making the choice to go AGAINST SELF, against the
natural direction an imperfect mind, especially influenced by
Satan, WANTS to go.
Satan has, again, taken the truth of the nature of sin, and
wrapped it up in traditional religious sounding garb, which as we
have seen already, simply turns people off to seeing the reality
and truth behind the original concept. So we just need to view
the nature of "sin" in the correct light.
The well known 10 Commandments are an outline of a way to
live. You see, Satan has perverted true religion so much that we
become locked into the weak, useless FORM and fail to break out
of that mold or thinking. We have been CONDITIONED to be repelled
by the truth simply through the slow yet consistent manipulation
of the world's religion and practices. We fail, completely,
to see the TRUE REALITY of existence.
That reality is a SPIRITUAL reality. All that we think we know or
perceive, or are told is true, is NOT necessarily true.
We are physical beings in a physical universe so we presume that this is the TRUE
REALITY, and that anything outside THIS reality is foolishness,
magical, weird or "supernatural." The fact is, God and
His way of thinking and being IS THE ONLY TRUE REALITY THAT
EXISTS. We have to come to see that sooner or later.
With reality as it truly is, what good is it, do you think,
for mankind to insist on doing his own thing and going his own
way? Will our wrong choices CHANGE REALITY? Will we be able to
somehow, bypass the truth of existence, and create ANOTHER
reality simply because we choose to? Will our choices actually
alter the very nature of God? NO!
Our choices, if they consistently reject reality and
foolishly attempt to live an illusion, will result in only ONE
END. THAT END IS ETERNAL DEATH. Not life in hell, not anything
else mankind wants to dream up, it simply means that our
consciousness will cease to exist and our memory, thoughts,
hopes, joys, everything will cease to exist, even to the point
that who and what we were will actually be FORGOTTEN by all
existing beings who DID choose the right way, the REAL way.
So, essentially, sin is a term for everything that conscious,
free-willed beings do that is contrary to the way God lives and
acts. Sin describes a state of being, a way of thinking and
acting that is contrary to the ultimate support system of all
life and the universe.
Christ is the beginning of this process IN us, by His sacrifice which opens
the way to direct contact with God, and His nature and state of
existence is the END of that process, because we will be exactly like Him
when we are resurrected, if we complete the training.
Unless we are created and ultimately
changed to this sin-LESS state of mind and acting, we can't
expect to continue on living because everyone has
to be brought into conformity with reality. That is the ONLY way
mankind will ever find true peace and happiness.
What is sin and Why do we have it?
